The Four Reading Skills Between Zero and the Mushaf
Quran reading becomes much clearer when it is broken into four jobs: recognize the script, attach the right sound to what you see, combine letters and signs into words, then transfer those skills into real Mushaf text. A learner can be strong in one job and weak in another.
This is why a Quran reading course for beginners should not be measured only by pages completed. The teacher needs to see whether the student can recognize, decode, combine and transfer the pattern when the example changes.
Recognize the Script
Identify letters and visual forms without relying on memorized sequence.
Attach the Sound
Connect the symbol or reading sign to the sound it requires.
Combine the Pattern
Blend letters and signs into words without endless spelling or guessing.
Transfer to Mushaf
Use the same reading system in real Quranic text with decreasing support.

The path is sequential, but placement means you do not have to repeat a stage that is already usable.
